Students

MEaTnet invites applications from interested Canadian undergraduates for summer (May to August) internships and from graduate students from Canada and around the world.

Undergraduate Students

Interested in joining the MEaTnet as an MSc or PhD student? A description of the program can be found on the “about us” page of the MEaTnet website.

Step 1
Review the job descriptions posted on the MEaTnet website in early February each year.

Step 2
Review the terms of reference for undergraduate students. If you are accepted into the program, you will be required to sign a copy of the document to demonstrate you understand and agree with the terms of reference.

Step 3
If required, contact the MEaTnet Program Coordinator to discuss your eligibility for the program and the undergraduate student opportunities available each summer.

Step 4
If you are still interested, follow the instructions on the job posting and send the application to the MEaTnet Program Coordinator.

Graduate Students

Interested in joining the MEaTnet as an MSc or PhD student? A description of the program can be found on the “about us” page of the MEaTnet website.

Step 1
Review the terms of reference for graduate students. If you are accepted into the program, you will be required to sign a copy of the document to demonstrate you understand and agree with the terms of reference.

Step 2
If required, contact the MEaTnet Program Coordinator to discuss your eligibility for the program and the opportunities available at each of the partner universities.

Step 3
Find a supervisor who agrees to accept you as a graduate student. Contact the supervisor directly or work with the MEaTnet Program Coordinator to arrange communication with the supervisor. Once you have found a supervisor who can accept you into their program, you can proceed to Step 4.

Step 4
What you are asked to do on the MEaTnet application form may appear similar to what you will be asked to do in Step 5 below. However, the two steps are separate and distinct. You may be asked to submit documents in both steps that are, or appear to be the same. Please put together an application package to be submitted to the MEaTnet that consists of the following documents:

  • Letter of intent
  • Up to date curriculum vitae. PhD applicants should list all oral and poster presentations and peer reviewed publications.
  • Transcripts (official copies only) from all post-secondary institutions attended.

Please email all the requested documents together at one time to the MEaTnet Program Coordinator.

Step 5
Apply to the university at which your chosen supervisor is located. You need to apply through the graduate student application processes specified by that university. Specify on your application that you are applying for the MEaTnet and the supervisor with whom you intend to work.
